As many of you know red lips are big this season. Choosing the right red for your complexion can be tricky. If you have never tried red lips thinking you couldn’t pull them off, I’m daring you to be different, to step out of your box and embrace the red! After all it’s very festive for the holidays!
The right red for your skin tone:
FAIR: Look for blue based cherry reds. Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick in “Lover” is great

MEDIUM: Olive skin tones can pull off warm rich reds and tomato reds.

DARK: Deep brick reds and burgundy shades look great. Bright red is also great for a show stopping pop of color!

Different shades of red from Mac:

RED, CHERRY RED, VIVA GLAM RED

Her body type is like: Marilyn Monroe
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”
— Marilyn Monroe
I have known Jeanette since I was in kindergarten. She has 5 kids who my brothers and I grew up knowing. Jeanette is also an employee at Anthropologie. She always adds fun to every day at work. We are so thankful to have her as part of our team.
Her figure is known to be curvy in a good way. Similar to Barbie. Shapely bust, curvy hips, and a small waist. Sometimes it can be difficult to find an outfit that fits every part of your body just right. Jeanette does a fantastic job at outfitting herself. She always manages to look age appropriate and stylish at the same time!
LOOK ONE:

Jeanette’s first look is great for everyday wear. The blouse is such a great piece on its own, you could pair it with a pencil skirt to really dress it up. Sometimes it is nice to pair boyfriend style denim with a feminine blouse. It adds a great touch.

Wrapped-In-Ruffles Cardigan $128

Snowscape Tank $148
She is also wearing a boyfriend crop denim by Joes. Also available at Anthropologie.
LOOK TWO:

In her second look she is actually wearing all black. All black is a very clean and flattering look. The sweater adds a lot of character to her basic look and is something Jeanette can pull off very well.

Scarf Trick Sweater $148

Joe’s Knit Chelsea $138
LOOK THREE:

This look is stepping out of the box! Great for New Years Eve or you could pair it with some tights and boots and throw on a cardigan to dress it down. This is definitely a “statement” dress.

Sterling Dress $168
LOOK FOUR:

Look four is a great outfit for Jeanette. The contrast of the top with her skirt looks outstanding. This color is also a great color for Jeanette’s complexion. It is important to always remember what colors work best for you. The skirt is a fun piece and great for the holidays. Again Jeanette could pair this outfit with tights and boots and have a whole new look!

Rare Bloom Tee $58

Whizbang Mini $88
TODAYS LOOK:

Monochromatic Corset Dres… $99.95 was $188

A good rule to follow…dont buy anything unless you know already that you have at least 3 things at home that will go with it. The smart woman always chooses with options in mind. Its hard not to be tempted to buy everything just because its a “good deal”. Trust me, I am the queen of “the good deal”. I’m starting to realize that the 5 things I got for $20 could have translated into one fantastic piece. This is something to keep in mind. However, I have the $9.95 rule: If it is $9.95 or less, then it’s basically a must have. ( As a smart woman once said, “for that price, you could clean your house in it.” )
Some details that make items a MUST-BUY:
1.) It enhances your figure.
2.) The item is classic and timeless.
3.) It is a unique color that works well with your complexion.
4.) Is it versital?
5.) Most importantly..does it make you feel good inside and out?
6.) Remember, if its $9.95 or less get it. You can never argue with a price tag!
“Buy less, choose well, and mix it all up.”- Vivienne Westwood

-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
How you feel on the inside is just as important as how you look on the outside. It all goes hand in hand. Most importantly is that you feel just as good inside and out in the clothes that you wear each day. NEVER buy anything just because it is functional and easy. You should no less than adore every piece in your closet. Additionally, you are more likely to get better use out of the clothes that give you instant gratification. When buliding your wardrobe keep in mind your lifestyle and what looks great on your body type. Get to know what colors look the best on your skin and play it up.
COLOR CODES:
| Hair color and complexion: | Colors for you: |
| Blonde; fair complexion | Baby blue, cornflower blue, bright pink, grass green, cream, navy |
| Brunette; olive skin | Smoky gray, fire-engine red, black, violet, coral pink |
| Black hair; dark skin | Sunshine yellow, orange, white, silver, gold, magenta |
| Red hair; fair complexion | Olive green, deep purple, burgundy, chocolate brown, beige, petrol blue |
| Brown hair; fair complexion | Plum, teal, black, coral, deep red, green |
The right shades of color can make your skin glow, your eyes stand out and your hair look great. On the flipside wearing the wrong color for your complexion can make you look dull and less attractive. You want to stand out and look your best. When shopping for clothes, keep two things in mind 1.) Does this color flatter your complexion and 2.) Does it fit your personality and personal style.
Do you feel like a 10 in it? Remember if you don’t feel amazing, chances are, others will sense that you are not feeling your “best”!

October is dog month, so in honor this special day, we had a local dog rescue center come out to the store with some very special dogs. The dogs were adorable and loved being there. ARF is an amazing NO KILL animal rescue center that houses over 100 dogs. If you are interested in adopting you should go out and visit them or see them on-line at
Adopting a dog is a huge commitment and is something that should be done only after careful and thoughtful consideration. Remember, when adopting a dog, you are agreeing to care for that animal for the rest of his or
her life. The selection and interview process that ARF utilizes is thorough and not a process that can be rushed.
To see our available dogs for adoption, please visit our Adoption page. These listings are updated several times a week with new available dogs. New dogs are available each week, so please come back if you do not fall
in love the first time you visit ARF’s dogs. You’ll be glad you did!
Here are some great pics from our event:

Nancy’s look today:

What Others Wear!
The person of the week is Meghan Maloney. Megan is a friend of mine and I just so happen to be their family babysitter! She has two children…Will is 5 and Maggie is 2. Meghan is also one of our good customers at Anthropologie, which is where I originally met her a little over a year ago.
Meghan’s body type would be classified as the linear figure- Model like figure. You can usually get away with a little more than most. Accessorizing your best features is always important. If you are small on the top as well, it is great to find pieces with a little extra detail on them. The pieces that you select should be very flirty and feminine!
Look one:

Here I have put Meghan in a great jacket. This jacket is such a great piece on its own that you can virtually pair it with just about anything underneath. Megan can wear this look well by having the advantage of being so narrow. She can afford to have the little extra fabric and twill at her waist line, which also adds a great feminine touch. To top it off, we added a printed scarf to make the colors pop!

Skirted Peacoat $168 (Anthropologie)

Also avaiable in turquoise.

AG jeans Kat Stevie Skinny $168 (Anthropologie)

Arcadian Scarf $40 (Anthropologie)
Look two:

Above Meghan is wearing a great simple outfit that is perfect for everyday life. She is wearing the Joes cotton stretch pants (that I swear by, and she does now too). The Joes are are great pant. They are very figure flattering and comfortable. This look is great paired with your basic boot. The green sweater is a fantastic color on her, and it also spices up the outfit quite nicely!
Bubbly Cardigan $128 (Anthropologie)

Petite Particulars Henley $68 (Anthropologie)

Joes Knit Chelsea $138 (Anthropologie)
Look 3:

For the third look Meghan is wearing our newest AG distressed denim. You will love them! The distressing is actually backed with different patches of fabric. Her top is perfect for her body type with the feminine detaling. This outfit is complimented with a simple no-closure by Sparrow that would really look good with just about everything. It is a great staple piece for Megans wardrobe.

Rain Pools Cardigan $88 (Anthropologie)

AG 6 Year Repaired Tomboy $248 (Anthropologie)
The 4th and final look:

A dress for Meghan. While Meghan is usually seen wearing jeans she looks fantastic in dresses! This is a great dress for her. The color breakup is nice and leaves for many different outfitting options. You can pair this dress with a sweater for evening or add a bellt to the waist line and make it look like a high waisted skirt and blouse. She also has the option to dress it up or down. Here she has it paired with basic carmel colored boots and she could easily throw on some tights and grab a pair of heels and be good to go out for the night!

Bustling Avenues Dress $148 (Anthropologie)
Filed under Uncategorized | Comments (4)It’s starting to be that time of year again. This is the time when we start to layer on the accessories. Everything from scarves and hats to gloves. I personally used to always just buy the “throw away at the end of the season kind of gloves”, like many of us may own. This year I decided to step it up in the glove department. Below are some different options to keep warm and still look fashionable at the same time. I also got a fabulous pair of yellow leather like gloves at Target this week for $18.00 they are a great option for a lot less.

And last but not least..

Aren’t they adorable?
(All gloves pictured are available at Anthropologie.com)
Stay tuned… for tomorrows WOW person of the week!
