It’s no secret that women adore shoes. When you are blue, buying a new pair is an instant mood lifter. When you feel great, you make a trip to the shoe store in celebration. And on special occasions, you must have something special to wear. The truth is, there will always be a good excuse to add to your shoe closet. Here are 9 tips on expressing your personal style — through your footwear.
-Harpers Bazaar
1. Don’t Be Hobbled by Discomfort Even if you love a pair, if you can’t walk in them, don’t buy them. Limping around in heels is decidedly ungraceful.
2. Dare to Wear Brights An electric hue can amp up a look, including outfits in colors other than black and denim. Try colored shoes with white, khaki, and pastels. A scarlet-red dress, however, calls for neutral footwear.
3. Wear What’s Appropriate Open-toe sandals may be too risqué for a conservative suit, while a flat may be too casual for a cocktail frock. Keep your sneakers relegated to gym clothes or casual jeans. When in doubt, it’s hard to go wrong with a classic black pump.
4. Going Outdoors? Say No to Stilettos
It will be difficult to walk when your heels keep sinking into the ground, and you’ll ruin your shoes. Flats are fine, but if you want height, wedges are an ideal option.
5. Make a Statement A spindly stiletto sandal is all about looking sexy, while a bow-emblazoned kitten heel veers more toward cute. Know what look you’re going for, and go full out.
6. Va-va-voom Shoes Have Their Place Nighttime is the right time for attention-getting shoes. If you still want to wear a knock-’em-dead look during the day, choose a closed-toe or peep-toe pump.
7. Pair Sky-High Shoes with Tame Hemlines When going for major air, keep your hemlines at an inch above the knee. But when wearing a short skirt or dress, wear a lower heel or flat — it will balance you out and keep you from showing altogether too much leg.
8. Wear Flats with Properly Hemmed Clothes Make sure your clothing is tailored or you’ll risk looking sloppy. A trouser leg should fall at or above the ankle, while skirts or dresses should end above the knee. 9. Think About Balance (And we’re not talking about the kind you need to walk.) A thicker-heeled shoe grounds a heavily layered look, when something dainty could look off balance. The reverse also holds true. When wearing a wispy frock, a thin-strapped sandal is an appropriate match.
My new favorite pairs..
Anthropologie $138 Im in love with these. They are great heels that are not to high and have great support. The bow is such a charming detail to your basic heel. I would give these 5 stars!
Flats Urban Outfitters $28 What a steal they are! I am getting use to wearing flats more often seeing as i get around at work so much quicker in them. I found these flats last week at Urban Outfitters for a great price to boot. Be aware they are VERY flat so..not much support for a long day. They need some breaking in.

If you are one of the many “shop-a-holics” in the world like myself, you may run into the problem of too many clothes and not enough time or places to wear them. I use to justify all of my purchases by saying that it was like buying a “work uniform” , but shortly after I had this approach, I loaded up a closet that is bigger than I know what to do with. I decided to catalog my wardrobe and pull each and every single item out and try them on. If I still loved it which was the problem with most, I then took a picture of it to put into my notebook of clothes. This was a great way to cast off some of the oldie but goddies items and remind myself how much I love certain pieces that I may have forgotten about! Additionally you are able to see what you own and it will get you moving through your closet and wearing it all in a new light! Here are some of my favorite finds in my closet!

I just picked up this blue blouse today by Blue Robin $88 The color is amazing and looks great tucked into pencil skirts!
This chartreuse All Over Ruffles Sweater is one of my most favorite pieces I own. I loved it so much that I bought the dark gray last week. Was $168 now $89.95

This sweater is from last winter and is always a great statement piece. The dress I got a while back as well and I always loved it because I thought it was so girly and feminine.

The wool coat! I couldn’t live without this! This skirt is a new item of mine. I scooped it up last week when I was out of town. If anything screams my name it would be this. I cant wait to wear it! For Flora Skirt $168 now $89.95

Another new find of mine is this simple cream bow blouse by Leifsdottir. I love bows so this was perfect for me. Green is my favorite color, so when we got this dress in I knew I had to have it. It always reminds me of a vintage dress in an up-dated way.

This skirt is AMAZING! I have only worn it once and I cant wait for the rain to be gone for good and wear it again. It’s classic- being black and white and is a very comfortable fit, well worth trying on for sure. Aniseed Skirt $128 This adorable bright red crop structured jacket by Leifsdotir great paired with a pencil skirt. My friend Meghan picked it up for me when she was out of town. S o sweet! This is another item that I am excited to bring out when the sun comes out again.

These two I just love just the way they are!

What a find this Plenty by Tracy Reese jacket was to come across last week on sale! I made sure to wear it right away so I could get one wear in at least, before packing it away until next year. Last , but definitely not least this amazing skirt that I got at Anthro a while back. It makes me feel like I’m wearing a piece off the runway. It is a piece of art!
